Manchester United sacked Jose Mourinho in December of last year and since then the Portuguese has been without a job.

The former Chelsea boss took charge of Man United in 2016 and he did manage to win the Europa League with them. But this past season, the Red Devils were consistently poor and much like his previous jobs, Jose Mourinho reportedly had a fall out with a number of his star players.

After receiving the sack, he has been doing punditry for the Champions League but it was a bit surprising that he did not choose to return back to management during the second half of the season.

Jose Mourinho though later made it clear that he wants to take charge of his new club before the summer transfer window was in full swing and now he might just have hinted at his next possible destination.

Speaking to Eleven Sports(via Football London), he said: “I want to compete in new competitions.

“I think about the World Cup and the European Championships.

“For a long time, I have had the desire to try out such an adventure. Right now, I see myself more at a national team than with a new club.

“Is Portugal the right team for me? Not necessarily.”

During the past couple of months, Jose Mourinho had been heavily linked with a third stint at Chelsea and now that Maurizio Sarri has gone to Juventus, there was a slight hope that Roman Abramovich might just bring his once trusted manager back at the helm.

But it looks like it will be Frank Lampard who will be named the next boss at Chelsea while Jose Mourinho is eager to take charge of a national side.

It is still unclear as to which country he will be heading to but some rumours have claimed that the former Man United boss could be looking to take charge of one of the Middle Eastern countries.
