Liverpool full-back Andy Robertson has urged his teammates not to get carried away after they got back to winning ways in the Premier League this week.

The Reds, after suffering some really poor defeats in the league, finally managed to win a game, beating Wolves 1-0 on Monday and with that they have been able to keep their top-four hopes still alive.

Jota scored the only goal of the game right before half-time but the equally important part was that Liverpool managed to keep a clean sheet in their second consecutive game.

Andy Robertson though has sent out a warning to the other Liverpool players that while they will need to build on this win but it’s also equally important for them to not get carried away after picking up their just their second win from their previous eight Premier League matches.

Robertson said to Liverpoolfc.com: “In a game like this when, like I said, you win ugly and they start throwing bodies forward for headers and it’s scrappy, some of their blocks and the way they put their head in it was fantastic.

“It’s a wee bit different, Ozan has had to come in and done really well. Big Nat has been around for a long time and he’s a wee bit older but now he’s getting his chance and you can tell that. He’s willing to take that, he’s still learning and he’s becoming commanding at the back.

“Look, it’s only the start. We can’t get carried away and it’s two clean sheets, we are in the quarter-final of the Champions League and we’ve pushed up the league a wee bit. We still need to keep pushing and we need a really strong finish to this season. Hopefully we finish where we want to be. It’s going to be tough but we never give up and we keep fighting.

“Sometimes these are the best ones, winning ugly, and sometimes you can take a lot more from it, but we just need to build a bit of momentum now. Two clean sheets on the bounce, we are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, another three points when a couple of teams above us have dropped points.

“Look, it’s positive and we need to keep going and we need to try to build momentum for the last part of the season. We need to try to be as good as we can be and let’s see where we finish up at the end.”

Liverpool still have a lot to achieve if they wish to maintain their Champions League status next season but this win has given them some much-needed respite from the constant losses they had been suffering in the league.

These three points mean Liverpool are now five points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and they will have time to regroup as their next match will be against Arsenal on the 4th of April.

Such a long break will obviously be like a breath of fresh air since Liverpool have played so much football in the past month or so but, at the same time, the Anfield outfit might lose the momentum which they have built in the past week.
