Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku is expected to leave the club this summer and Solskjaer is planning to bring in Mario Mandzukic as a replacement.

United are currently tied into a swap deal between their Belgian forward and Paulo Dybala but it looks like Mario Mandzukic is also expected to arrive in Manchester United on Monday.

While some rumours have claimed that the 33-year-old will be part of the swap deal but as per Tuttosport, the Premier League outfit will have to shell out around €10-15 million for the Croatian.

The report states: “All market streets lead to Manchester. At least for Juventus.

“After Joao Cancelo (chased by the City) and Paulo Dybala (in the view of United) here is the club of the brothers Joel and Avram Glazer also focused on Mario Mandzukic.

“To tell the truth, the interest of the Red Devils is not recent: already in the spring, the English club had come forward with the Croatian striker asking him his willingness to move into the Premier League.

“Then Super Mario replied no: his intention was to remain faithful to Juventus in light of the renewal he had just signed (extending his bond to Juventus until 2021) and to the presence on the bench of his mentor Massimiliano Allegri.”

While some fans will surely have doubts about their club trying to bring in a 33-year-old forward but given that Man United will be playing in the Europa League this season, Mario Mandzukic will be a perfect back-up to the likes of Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Last season, the 33-year-old featured in 25 Serie A games and managed to chip in with a handsome tally of 9 goals and 7 assists.

So clearly the ageing striker still has some goals left in him and he will be an ideal feature in those gruelling Thursday night games in the Europa League.

But then again, if Mario Mandzukic was to arrive at Old Trafford then it would mean that Mason Greenwood might have to spend another season with the reserve team.
