Lately, Chelsea have seen a slump in form and after some humiliating losses, it looks like Maurizio Sarri could very well be on his way out of the club.

The Blues lost 2-0 to Man United in the FA Cup on Monday and while the United fans were in full voice inside Stamford Bridge, the home fans were chanting “f*** Sarri-ball” which was a clear indication that the Italian’s tactics have not gone down too well with the home fans.

The Chelsea boss though refused to accept that he is worried about the fans but the tension is there for everyone to see.

And now in a bid to salvage the situation, defender Antonio Rudiger has come out to urge the fans from hurling abuses at the manager and instead stand by the team during tough times.

“It’s always important the supporters are with us,” the Chelsea defender said.

“Sometimes, for example at Manchester City [where they lost 6-0], you can understand they are furious.

“The emotions of the fans, no player can do anything about that. What we can do is get back results, then they’ll be behind us.

“…on Sunday, a big game against City at Wembley. That will show the truth. That will show our way this season. It will be the truth in terms of [showing whether Chelsea are close to] keeping up with opponents like City Liverpool and Tottenham.

“What if it shows we are not that close? Then that is the reality.”

“You always play for your manager but you want results,

“You want to win. No player likes to have the kind of run we’ve had.”

This public support for the Chelsea manager from one of the defenders comes in stark contrast of the reports which had suggested that Sarri had lost control of the dressing room and most of the players were unhappy with how the Italian had been managing the squad.
