The 2018 edition of the FIFA World Cup was just wrapped up a fortnight ago and while at the front the tournament was largely a successful one but there were some major underlying problems that a large part of the footballing fans have noticed.
Firstly, Russia winning the bid for the 2018 World Cup raised a lot of questions then a number of field events raised a huge deal of concern amongst several participating countries.
After this, the 2022 World Cup is set to be held in Qatar which has caused even more problems for the governing body of World Cup after they announced that the month-long tournament will actually be held during November and December.
The FIFA World Cup generally takes place in June and July after all the major leagues in the world have been wrapped up but now a winter tournament means that most of the leagues will have to announce a break.
This has caused immense frustration amongst the fans with many feeling that the likes of Qatar have just won the bids based on their connections and financial backing.

- LGBT fans might face problems in Russia.

So clearly a large section of the fans had been urging the major footballing nations to step up and do something about it.
And it seems that the football lovers might get some respite as England have decided to bid for the 2030 World Cup.

Deputy leader of Labour party, Tom Watson, has backed a bid by England to host the World Cup which will be the first time since 1966 – if they actually manage to win the bid.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Watson said:
“I’ve been driving my kids crazy because I am old enough to remember Italia 90 when we got through to the semi-finals and the country was alive.
“After a very difficult year, seeing the country united these last few weeks has been fantastic – and it seems to me you look at Premier League football, which is the best in the world, you look at our lower league football – which is really well run, the Football Foundation has made investments in grassroots football.
“It’s the national game, it can bring the country together, it can give us hope.
“We were disappointed in 2018 when we did the World Cup bid, it seems to me that we should be bidding for the World Cup 2030.
“That’s a few years off and we don’t know who’s going to be in government in a few years’ time. If we’re in government, I hope it’s one of the first things a Labour government does, which is work with our FA to try and put a World Cup bid together.
“If the Conservatives are still in government, then we’d like to work with them to make sure that a bid is successful.”
It was recently announced that Canada, Mexico and the United States of America will together host the 2026 World Cup.
