Ousmane Dembele to the Premier League

Liverpool failed to defend their Premier League title in a really dismal fashion so Jurgen Klopp will have to make a statement of intent by signing some big names for the 2021-22 season.

The Anfield outfit are already being a number of players and apart from the defensive areas, talks are that the German manager is keen to bring in some attacking reinforcements.

The name of Jadon Sancho has been doing the rounds for some time, primarily since the Dortmund man is likely to leave the Bundesliga side and play for an English side next season. But according to ex-England international John Barnes, the Merseyside club should make a move for Ousmane Dembele instead of Sancho.

Speaking to BettingOdds.com, Barnes said, as quoted: “As far as Jadon Sancho is concerned, out of the clubs rumoured to be interested in him I’d say that Manchester United is probably the best destination for him.

“At Liverpool I’d prefer a much more direct player. Jadon is very skilful and very tricky, but I believe that Ousmane Dembele would suit Liverpool out of all the potentially available players in that position.”

Should Liverpool make a move for Ousmane Dembele?

Ousmane Dembele joined FC Barcelona with a lot of high hopes but in the end, the Frenchman has turned out to be a failed project at the club.

As per TransferMarkt, Barca paid £121.5 million for the winger but he has massively failed to deliver, this season he has scored only six goals and assisted three despite playing in 30 La Liga matches. Now with just one year left on his current deal, the club are eager to part ways with him as soon as possible.

Ousmane Dembele is still just 24 years old so Liverpool could take a chance by signing him but Barcelona will want a pretty decent transfer fee for the Frenchman and we are not sure if the Premier League side should be spending money on a player like him.

Liverpool have been linked with Leeds United’s Raphinha and the Brazilian, at this point in time, will be a much sensible move.

Ousmane Dembele will need time to come in and settle in England(if he still has potential that is) but Raphinha has already proved his worth in the English top division this season.

Also, there are rumours that a bid of around £35-40 million should be good enough to lure the winger out of Leeds United this summer and this fee will be far less than what Barcelona are going to demand for Dembele.

Jadon Sancho should also be available in the market but BVB want £90-odd million for him so there’s no way Liverpool should even think of walking in that direction.
