Arsenal forward Alexandre Lacazette is set to leave during the January transfer window and as per Fichajes.net, Mikel Arteta wants to bring in Luka Jovic as a replacement.

The Serbian international has endured a tough time at Real Madrid and he has no future under Carlo Ancelotti. And maybe this is why the Gunners think he will be an easy transfer target.

Sport Witness cites the report writing: “Real Madrid striker Luka Jović is the ‘chosen one by Mikel Arteta’ to replace Alexandre Lacazette, according to Fichajes.net.

“He doesn’t enter into Arteta’s plans this campaign and following his mixed performances in the last two seasons, Arsenal need to bring in a replacement next summer.

“This is where the Serbia international fits in, as per the report, and is the one picked by Arteta to take Lacazette’s place in the squad.”

Luka Jovic set to join Arsenal next year?

Real Madrid had paid £57 million to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019 for the services of Jovic. But the 23-year-old has turned out to be a major failure at the Bernabeu.

He’s made only five substitute appearances for Real Madrid this season so Ancelotti will have no problems in letting him leave for the right transfer fee.

But we think it will be a major gamble for the Gunners to try and sign Luka Jovic. The forward has failed to succeed in the La Liga so there’s very little chance that he will succeed in the Premier League. In this campaign, he’s been on the pitch for just 84 minutes of action across all competitions and the situation is not expected to get any better.

His current contract with Arsenal expires in 2025 so Real Madrid will not let him leave for a cut-price deal. And the last thing Mikel Arteta will want is to flush more transfer money down the drain.

The club have already made some poor big-money signings namely Nicolas Pepe so they will have to be really careful with whom they sign.

If we look at the stats, Luka Jovic has had only one good season which was with Eintracht Frankfurt when he had scored 17 goals in 32 league games(18/19 season). But since then, it has all gone downhill for the forward.

Real Madrid will obviously not resist a sale but we think Arsenal should only try and sign him if only they are able to get him in a cut-price deal.
