PSG have brought in Sergio Ramos and according to L’Equipe, Premier League side Chelsea are planning to take advantage of this situation by trying to sign Presnel Kimpembe.

GFNF cites L’Equipe: “After the arrival of Sergio Ramos this summer, France defender Presnel Kimpembe’s position at PSG is seemingly under threat and, as L’Équipe report, European champions Chelsea may sense an opportunity to tempt the PSG man away.

“Any concrete interest remains a long way away however, while an approach for Kimpembe would have to overcome many obstacles according to the sports daily.

“Firstly, the player’s contract runs for another three years to 2024 and, secondly, Kimpembe remains very attached to his boyhood club where he has become vice-captain and an important dressing room figure.”

Will Presnel Kimpembe agree to leave PSG and join Chelsea?

Sergio Ramos’ arrival has surely put Kimpembe’s position in doubt but we don’t think the former Real Madrid man is a long-term acquisition for PSG.

Ramos is 35 years old so he’s not going to remain a first-choice centre-back for a really long time and this is one reason why Chelsea might fail to get their hands on Presnel Kimpembe.

Also, Thomas Tuchel’s side already have players like Zouma, Christensen, Thiago Silva and Azpilicueta so the PSG defender might not be a guaranteed starter should be decide to join the Stamford Bridge outfit this summer.

These are just initial reports so there’s a long way to go before Chelsea make any sort of concrete decision to move for Presnel Kimpembe.

The 25-year-old’s current deal with PSG expires in 2024 and he is valued at £36 million. PSG are under no financial pressure to sell players right now and on top of that, Chelsea need to patch up other areas of their first-team squad before they can make a move for someone like Kimpembe.
