Liverpool take on Norwich City in their Premier League season opener and all eyes will be on Kostas Tsimikas as he is set to play at left-back in place of Andy Robertson.

Robertson picked up an injury during pre-season and after scans, it has been revealed that he has suffered ligament damage and will be on the sidelines for a couple of weeks.

Robertson wrote on Twitter: “Thanks to everyone for the kind messages and support. Scan suggests nothing too major but there’s some ligament damage which will need to mend.

“I will be grafting every day so I can help the team again sooner rather than later. Good luck to the boys playing tonight #YNWA.”

Will Kostas Tsimikas play against Norwich?

Kostas Tsimikas joined Liverpool in the summer of 2020 but due to Andy Robertson’s superb form, the 25-year-old has hardly got to showcase his talent for the first team.

But now that Robertson is out injured, Tsimikas will start against Norwich and the player in a recent interview has made it clear that he is ready to give his 100%.

“I always give my best to be close to the team. Whenever my coach gives me the opportunity to play, I’m always ready for that,” Tsimikas told LFCTV.

“I wait for my opportunity, I’m ready.”

Some people think James Milner might come into the left-back role but since Wijnaldum has left the club and Jordan Henderson is not back to full fitness, Milner will be deployed in central midfield.

Last season, Kostas Tsimikas played only five minutes across two Premier League games but with Robertson out for some time, this is Tsimikas’ time to shine and prove his worth to Jurgen Klopp.
