Rangers FC make up their mind regarding the signing of this midfielder: Should the manager take a gamble?

Aaron Ramsey playing for Arsenal

Scottish side Rangers FC have decided against signing Aaron Ramsey on a permanent deal, as per a report in Italian outlet Gazzetto dello Sport.

Ramsey’s career has seen a massive dip since joining Juventus in 2019 but a lot of people had hoped he will be able to revive himself at Rangers during his six-month loan spell.

Unfortunately, his time in Scotland has been riddled with injuries and it’s safe to say that Aaron Ramsey has been more of a liability than an asset for the club during these final few months of the campaign.

He’s played only five Premiership games since his arrival in January and his pattern of picking up injuries seems to be the major reason why Rangers have decided to let him leave.

Should Rangers take a gamble with Aaron Ramsey?

There’s no denying that whenever Aaron Ramsey has featured in the first XI, he’s played some very good football for the Gers but the midfielder just cannot seem to keep himself fit. After every three or four consecutive matches, the midfielder somehow picks up a knock or an injury.

His last game for the club came towards the end of April in the Old Firm Derby where he played only 43 minutes. He sustained a hamstring injury in that game and has been on the sidelines since.

A player like him will obviously have significant wage demands so it makes no sense for GvB to push for a permanent move in the summer. If his injury woes continue next season as well then Rangers will be in for a lot of trouble.

Also, Aaron Ramsey will be 32 by the end of this year which is why it will be much more pragmatic for the Gers to invest money in young talents like Amad Diallo rather than going after someone who’s entering the twilight phase of his career.
