Spurs are making progress in signing Adama Traore and according to The Telegraph, the Wolves winger could join Nuno’s side on a loan deal.

Nuno has worked with Traore from really close quarters and given how rusty Spurs looked in attack on Sunday, it’s no surprise that the new boss has asked his management to put their foot on the peddle.

The report claims: Tottenham Hotspur have accelerated talks over trying to take Adama Traore on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent move worth up to £40million.

“New Spurs head coach Nuno Espirito Santo is a huge fan of Traore and wants the Spain international to follow him from Wolverhampton Wanderers to north London.

“Wolves value Traore at £40m, but, with the Spain international yet to extend his contract that has two years to run, the club may be forced to consider a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy.

“It is understood that an initial suggestion from Tottenham of a £5m loan fee plus an option for a permanent deal was rejected by Wolves, but talks are continuing.”

Will Adama Traore join Tottenham before deadline day?

The new Wolves boss is reportedly trying to freshen up his squad and as per all the major rumours, the management is willing to cash in on Adama Traore this summer.

Spurs are also exploring the option of instalment payments for the winger and this could be a much more feasible option for Daniel Levy’s side.

The 25-year-old had a really muted 20-21 season but he showed what he is really capable of on Sunday when Wolves faced Spurs.

Adama Traore played on the left wing vs Nuno’s side and was the star of the show for the Molineux outfit with a rating of 8.3/10.

He managed to complete 9 out of his 10 attempted dribbles and took as many as four targets throughout the match.

He will undoubtedly be a fine addition to the Spurs squad and given how much they have progressed, Tottenham should be able to see this transfer through before deadline day.

UPDATE:

Fabrizio Romano has now updated that Spurs are indeed interested in signing Adama Traore and the Lilywhites are preparing a formal offer.

He wrote on Twitter: “Adama Traoré is one of the main names on Tottenham list as potential new winger since weeks, confirmed. Direct talks ongoing with all parties involved – Spurs now preparing bid.”
