Olivier Giroud joined Chelsea from Arsenal at the start of 2018 and the Frenchman will have the chance to take on his former team this weekend.

Giroud has recovered from injury a couple of weeks ago despite that the player has not seen to much game time.

Maurizio Sarri has chosen to leave Olivier Giroud on the bench and play Eden Hazard as the false nine during the past few games and the forward admits that this is frustrating.

The World Cup winner has also revealed what his former Arsenal players think about Unai Emery.

“I think Emery has settled well in the club, the players like him, the way they are training, his philosophy of the game,” Giroud told ESPN.

“I spoke with some of them and they are quite happy, but you don’t forget what Arsene Wenger achieved in this club.

“He basically built this club – if you take the different teams that used to train under Wenger, there were some unbelievable teams.

“We need to be patient with Emery and I think he will do very well at Arsenal. I’m not sure they’re better than before [yet], but one thing for sure is they’ve got a nice future.

“People understand why I had to move.

“It was not my choice but it was a great opportunity for me to show my determination to carry on playing in the Premier League, especially for a big club like Chelsea.

“I settled well, we won the FA Cup & I had an opportunity to play more than when I was at Arsenal. But Arsenal fans don’t forget what you have done. They were amazing years, I improved a lot. I owe them a lot. It will be a great moment for me to go back.

“Will I celebrate if I score against them? No, I’m not like that. It will be special for me if I get the chance to play. If I score, I will respect everyone.”
