Steven Gerrard wants Filip Helander at Aston Villa

Rangers FC have had a mixed season ever since they appointed Steven Gerrard as their new manager last summer.

Before the start of the season, the Gers brought in more than a dozen new players and the fans were hopeful that finally, their club could challenge Celtic for the Premiership title this year.

And they even went on to make a pretty decent start to the campaign and clubbed with the slow start from the Bhoys many pundits felts, Gerrard can finally stop the Celtic juggernaut.

But as we approach the end of the season, it has not been the case.

Celtic has pretty up momentum pretty rapidly and on the other hand, the Teddy Bears have been dropping unnecessary points all throughout the second half of the season.

And this Sunday as the two teams meet for the Old Firm Derby, The Bhoys are 10 points clear from their Glasgow rivals.

Many pundits feel that Gerrard could find it really hard to stay on for the next season if the Gers fail to end the season on a good note but now a former Celtic man has come out in support for Gerrard.

Gary Gillespie who played for the Bhoys during the early ’90s has predicted that Gerrard should be able to pull Rangers out of this hole pretty soon.

“I don’t think Rangers will be struggling for too long”, Gillespie told the Herard.

“Steven will identify the kind of guys he wants to come into his team and squad of players.

“It is difficult when you are in that situation [not winning silverware] but I don’t think it’s quite so bad for Rangers just now. I believe the gap has closed this season. Steven is heading in the right direction. Long may he suffer, right enough!

“…Rangers will be a threat and a force again in Scottish football. I’m sure of that and I am sure it is going to be with Steven Gerrard at the helm as opposed to someone else.”
