Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo will be leaving the club at the end of this week after being in charge for four seasons, the club have officially confirmed.

The official statement read: “Wolves can confirm head coach Nuno Espirito Santo will leave the club, by mutual agreement, after Sunday’s match against Manchester United.”

Nuno Espirito Santo took charge of the club back in 2017 when they were still playing in the Championship and from there onwards, the Portuguese manager has managed to transform Wolves into a solid mid-table Premier League side.

Nuno said after the annoucement, as per the club’s official sources: “Firstly, I want to thank the supporters, who have all played such an important part in helping us reach new heights for Wolves, and the people of the city, who embraced us and made us feel at home.

“I, of course, want to thank all of the staff at Wolves, for their support and total commitment, every single day.

“Most importantly, I want to thank each-and-every player that we’ve worked with since the day we started, for their loyalty, their dedication, hard work and talent. They are the ones who have made this amazing journey possible for us.

“Sunday will be a very emotional day, but I am so happy that the fans will be back in Molineux and we can share one last special moment together, as one pack.”

Nuno Espirito Santo heading to Spurs?

Last month, there were reports that the Tottenham Hotspur hierarchy have massive respect for Nuno Espirito Santo and they could be eyeing the 47-year-old as the long-term replacement to Jose Mourinho.

Now, this sudden departure from Wolves has forced many people to stand up and take notice since the Portuguese could very well be sitting in the Spurs dugout next season.

Wolves have played a really attractive and attacking brand of football under Santo and recently, Daniel Levy had said in a statement that their next manager will bring back the culture set by Mauricio Pochettino.

And if Levy is swearing by his words then someone like Nuno Espirito Santo will be the perfect fit.

Tottenham are also being linked with Roberto Martinez but rumours suggest that Real Madrid could be eyeing the former Everton boss as their next manager. And maybe this is why Spurs have chosen to shift their focus to Nuno Espirito Santo.

Only time will tell.
