Liverpool Premier League
Anfield Liverpool

Liverpool beat Spurs 2-1 at Anfield on Sunday and unfortunately for the Lilywhites it was an own-goal from Alderweireld which helped the Reds big up the win.

After Hugo Lloris failed to hold onto a header from Mo Salah, the ball hit Alderweireld and crept into the net and suddenly, Liverpool had a 90th-minute winner out of nowhere.

And the goal was so out of the blue that even Jurgen Klopp looked shocked for a couple of seconds before the German started to celebrate with his staff.

But when the cameras were recording this moment of joy, some fans also noticed a bit unusual.

A number of fans caught a glimpse of what looked to be a match official celebrating the late Liverpool winner.

Here’s the video:

As soon as this video was posted on social media, it spread like wildfire and many fans even started questioning the integrity of the high-profile clash.

But now it looks like the Mirror have finally found out who the person wearing the official EA Sports jacket was.

As per the publication, he’s a masseur provided to the officials at the ground on matchday.

The report states: “Mirror Football understands via sources with knowledge of the man’s role, that he is not a Premier League match official.”

The person in question is employed by the Premier League – or the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) but he’s not actually an official.

Give Me Sport did some more digging and the found out the person is named Paul Tremarco.

GMS further wrote:

‘According to his LinkedIn, Tremarco is a “level 5 Sports massage practitioner at PT Sports Therapy and Sports masseur for PGMOL assisting elite match officials.”’

Tremarco acts as a masseur for all visiting match officials at Anfield as well as for the Everton games over at Goodison Park.

And he happens to be a Liverpool supporter.
