Harry Kane will be the subject of a major transfer battle this summer and according to former Arsenal man Kevin Campbell, the North London side should try and sign Patrick Bamford from Leeds United should they lose out on Kane.

Clubs like Manchester City, Chelsea and Man United have all registered an interest in Harry Kane and there are fears that if Daniel Levy cannot bring in a world-class manager then Kane will be heading out.

Campbell feels Patrick Bamford will be a great replacement for the England striker, as he has been in great goalscoring form for Leeds United this season.

The ex-Gunner told Football Insider: “Bamford has been superb, he really has. He is unlucky not to get in the England squad but there are so many good, young strikers around at the moment. Southgate really is spoiled for choice in the forward areas.

“I think he has played so well this season that a number of clubs will be looking at him. The bottom line is the system suits Bamford and other players at Leeds down to the ground.

“To score 17 goals in a season is a massive achievement though. If you could add those goals to say a Spurs.

“If they lost Harry Kane and signed Bamford at least they would have a similar output. Yes, somebody else would have to step up as well but to sign a 17-goal striker would be a start.

“If I was Bamford though I would reject any Tottenham offers and stick at Leeds. He loves it there and he knows the team and the manager so well. I’d ignore any interest and stay where I’m loved by the fans and my manager.”

Patrick Bamford joined Leeds United from Middlesbrough in 2018 and in his first Premier League season, the ex-Chelsea lad has come out with flying colours.

He has played in 38 Premier League games during the 2020-21 season and has managed to score 17 goals along with eight assists. While he perfectly happy at Elland Road at the moment but his current deal expires next year so Leeds will either be planning his sale or make him sign a new deal at the club.

If Leeds fail to make Bamford agree to a new deal then this could give Spurs the perfect opportunity to get their 27-year-old on a real bargain deal – if they lose Harry Kane.

Tottenham have also been linked with Anthony Martial but Manchester United are demanding around £30 million for his sale. Patrick Bamford, on the other hand, is only valued at 16.20 million according to TransferMarkt and Spurs might be able to sign him for around £20 million since he only has one more year left on his contract with Leeds United.
