According to a report from Fichajes, Arsenal are all set to make their first formal move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.

The Gunners are desperately looking to land a new central midfielder this summer and after scouting through multiple options, it looks like Mikel Arteta has zeroed in on Tielemans.

The Belgian international has entered the final year of his contract but he’s not going to sign a new deal which is why Leicester have no other option but to cash in on him. This also means Arsenal will be able to seize him for a bargain deal.

As per the reports, Arsenal’s first offer will be around £30 million and they are confident the Foxes will agree to this proposal and trigger a sale.

Is Youri Tielemans the most important signing for Arsenal?

On paper, signing a new centre-forward is of the utmost importance but without two quality central midfielders, Arsenal will never be able to challenge for the top four.

Arteta has sorted one slot out by signing Thomas Partey and someone like Youri Tielemans will be the ideal replacement for Granit Xhaka. Xhaka is ok but Arsenal need a truly world-class central midfielder to be able to get back into the Champions League.

Tielemans has played over 150 games for Leicester City, scoring 24 goals and over the previous two seasons, he has been one of the first names on Leicester’s teamsheets.

There are no doubt a lot of better midfielders available in the market right now but a £30 million Youri Tielemans is the perfect buy for Arsenal, especially since they only have Europa League football to offer.

The deal is obviously not done yet but Leicester cannot afford to play hardball in such a situation and as per multiple pundits, their management is already preparing for life without the 25-year-old.
