Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny has agreed on personal terms to join Turkish side Galatasaray during the January transfer window, as per Fanatik.

The 29-year-old is soon to be a free agent and since he is way down the pecking order at the Emirates, the midfielder has decided to move out at the start of the new year.

Just Arsenal cites the report: “Mohamed Elneny has agreed terms with Galatasaray ahead of a move in January, but a deal with Arsenal still needs to be met.

“The 29 year-old has entered into the final 12 months of his current contract in north London, further enhancing the likelihood that he will be leaving the club either in January or worse, for free come the end of the term.

“The latest report by Fanatik claim that he has now agreed terms ahead of a move to Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig for the new year.”

Should Arteta hold onto Elneny until the summer?

Mohamed Elneny has played in only one Premier League game so far this season and since the Gunners are not playing in Europe, his chances will be very limited for the remainder of the campaign.

Mikel Arteta has no use of the 29-year-old so he will have no problem in cashing in on him. But allowing him to leave during the middle of the season could be a very big gamble.

Yes, Arsenal have signed Albert Lokonga during the summer but it will be wise on the manager’s part to keep an experienced backup midfielder amongst his ranks.

His current market value is only £9 million so it’s not like Arsenal will be losing out on a lot of money if he leaves for free. Thus Arteta would be much better off holding onto him for the whole season, rather than letting him move out in January.
