Premier League sides Liverpool and Chelsea are expected to battle it out for the signing of AS Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to Tuttosport.

The two English sides are planning to refresh their midfield options next summer and it looks like they are going to challenge Juventus to the signing of 21-year-old.

Sport Witness cites the report: “Tuttosport have an article on the player and Juventus’ interest in him, where both Liverpool and Chelsea are named as competition for the Italian side.

“The newspaper claim the Serie A club have ‘moved with great concreteness over the past month to anticipate’ both the teams managed by Klopp and Thomas Tuchel respectively, suggesting they are also in the race for Tchouaméni.

“As for the price, it’s suggested Monaco value him at around €35-40m, which seems somewhat low for a club who currently boast the second biggest sale in the history of football.”

Liverpool or Chelsea likely to beat Juventus to the signing of Tchouameni?

€40 million is a transfer fee that both Liverpool and Chelsea can easily afford but the first thing they need to do is to convince the youngster to snub Juventus and join them.

Liverpool are obviously looking at Tchouameni as the long-term replacement to Wijnaldum but they already have players like Thiago and Naby Keita at their disposal so it will be really tough for them to guarantee game time to the Monaco midfielder.

Chelsea have an even bigger squad so Tuchel will have to sell several midfielders before he can seriously make a move for Tchouameni next summer.

At the reported fee, the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni will be nothing short of a gamble for Liverpool as well as Chelsea so we believe both of them are going to scout other options like Franck Kessie and Yves Bissouma before they shift their focus to the Monaco midfielder.
