After the international break, Chelsea take on Brentford in the Premier League on October 16 and Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Thiago Silva will not be available for that match.

Thiago Silva has been called up for the Brazilian national side and he will return to England on the very same day when the Blues take on their local rivals.

Brazil will play against Venezuela, Colombia and Uruguay in the World Cup qualifiers and the experienced defender will be featuring in these matches meaning Chelsea will have to work without him on October 16.

Tuchel said about Thiago Silva, as quoted: “He will go and then he will play for Brazil and then he will come back on the matchday versus Brentford.

“This is the life of international breaks, this is the situation of international breaks in 2021.

“Like it or not, what can I do? Is it a good solution for us as a club? No. But we cannot hold him back.

“It is impossible if they call him, he needs to go. Otherwise he gets suspended from FIFA. There is no choice and it is something we have to live with.”

Will Chelsea miss Thiago Silva vs Brentford?

Chelsea have several defensive choices so naming a strong starting line up should not be a problem for the Blues boss.

But the Brentford forwards have been really tormenting defenders this season and an experienced head like Thiago Silva could have come really handy in defence.

In the absence of Thiago Silva, Azpilicueta could come into the three-man defensive line while Tuchel also has the option of using Trevoh Chalobah.

The Blues have been in fine form this season which is why we do not expect them to drop points against the Bees but the duo of Mbuemo and Ivan Toney have been on a roll in the Premier League so they are likely to cause several headaches to Chelsea backline.
