Liverpool seem to have made Youri Tielemans as their top-priority transfer target this summer and this is going to be a huge setback for Manchester United.
The Leicester City man has been in great form during the 2020/21 season and both Liverpool and Manchester United have registered an interest in the 24-year-old midfielder.
Now as per Sport Witness, Liverpool are doing all they can to sign Youri Tielemans and are also ready to meet the Foxes’ transfer demands.
The report cites Het Nieuwsblad: “Earlier this week, reports in England stated the Merseyside club have identified the Foxes midfielder as a potential candidate to replace Wijnaldum.
“Claims made in the British press have reached Belgium and Het Nieuwsblad on Thursday have provided their own information on this case.
“Any potential approach from Jürgen Klopp’s side in signing the former AS Monaco man will see them spend big because Leicester want €70-80m for Tielemans.”
Is Youri Tielemans set to join Liverpool?
Youri Tielemans has played each and every Premier League game for Liverpool during the recently concluded season, scoring six and assisted four goals. And as per various sources, Leicester City are not keen to cash in on him.
But, if a club like Liverpool are willing to pay €70-80m for Tielemans then Brendan Rodgers might agree to cash in and use the money elsewhere.

Manchester United have been also inclined to sign the Belgian international but we doubt if they will be ready to pay so much money for the midfielder. Yes, they need a new defensive midfielder for the next season but Ole has other priorities as well.
Nemanja Matic is expected to leave this summer and Youri Tielemans will be the perfect upgrade for the Serbian. But if they are serious about signing the Leicester man then they have no other option but to outbid Liverpool in this transfer race.
Leicester City will love to hold onto him Tielemans but the Foxes have not made it into the Champions League which could be a big obstacle in trying to hold onto the midfielder.
