Liverpool are ready to challenge Chelsea in the signing of winger Federico Chiesa and as per La Repubblica, the Anfield outfit are ready to spend £85.6million to sign the 23-year-old.

Football London cites the report: “According to La Repubblica, Liverpool have joined the race to sign reported Chelsea target, Federico Chiesa.

“The Italy international impressed at the recent Euros and his form has earned him attention from elsewhere.

“The report claims that the Reds have submitted an offer in the region of £85.6million for Chiesa.”

Are Liverpool planning to outbid Chelsea to the signing of Federico Chiesa?

After disappointing during the 2021-22 season, Chelsea could see Hakim Ziyech move out of the club which is why they have been keeping tabs on the right-winger.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are expected to see the exit of Xherdan Shaqiri in the coming weeks which is why Jurgen Klopp is possibly planning to make a move for Chiesa.

But Liverpool already have one of the best wingers in the Premier League in the form of Mo Salah so it seemed a bit unrealistic that they will be ready to spend so much money on a player who will not be a guaranteed starter next season.

Liverpool not interested in Federico Chiesa:

Now, in a fresh update, Sky Sports have cleared the air saying that while Liverpool do hold interest in the winger they are not likely to make a move for him – deeming him too expensive.

Sky Sports are claiming: “The club do hold an interest in the 23-year-old – who helped his country to Euro 2020 glory this summer – but are not planning to take it any further as they consider him to be too expensive.

“Any move for Chiesa would be further complicated by the fact he is only halfway through a two-year loan spell at Juventus, who have agreed to buy him from Fiorentina in 2022.”

Chelsea too are going to give this one a long and hard thought since they already have players like Callum Hudson-Odoi, Mason Mount, Hakim Ziyech. And given that they spent a lot of money to sign Ziyech, there’s no way he is leaving on a permanent deal this summer(only a loan arrangement is possible).

Federico Chiesa is currently valued at £63 million, and according to TransferMarkt, his loan contract with Juventus has an obligation to buy but with conditions.
