Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane is ready to set aside the interests from PSG as well as Chelsea to secure a move to Manchester United, as per The Independent.

The report claims: “Raphael Varane wants to join Manchester United due to his belief that now is the time for a new experience in his career.

“However, there is also the attraction of doing an otherwise easy deal for a world-class centre-half in his prime.

“Varane feels now is the time to change clubs after almost a decade at Madrid, with the La Liga giants facing an uncertain future with Carlo Ancelotti replacing Zinedine Zidane this summer.

“Paris Saint-Germain are also an option for Varane, but his preference is to move to the Premier League.”

Is Raphael Varane all set to join Man United?

Not only the Independent but a few other reports are also claiming that Varane is not too inclined to join Chelsea or PSG.

And this news has amplified ever since Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has hinted that the centre-back could look to secure a move out of the club.

Perez said in an interview: ‘I read news in the newspapers [about Varane leaving] and I don’t know anything.

‘We have not spoken with him yet, he is in the Eurocup. He still has one year left on his contract. And we have not received any offers for Varane.

‘He is a gentleman, if he wants to stay he will stay and if not, he will leave.’

Chelsea are eager to add a new central defender to the club this summer with Fikayo Tomori leaving and Christensen’s future also on the edge. But it seems like Raphael Varane is not interested in joining the London side since he will face a lot of competition at the club.

Apart from Christensen and Tomori, the Blues also have Thiago Silva, Rudiger, Zouma and Azpilicueta. So naturally, Varane is not eager to start from scratch in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

At Manchester United, things will be different since both Lindelof and Bailly had been underwhelming last season so someone like Raphael Varane can very easily become the long-term partner to Harry Maguire.

Real Madrid are still trying to make the 28-year-old sign a new deal at the club but we don’t think the defender is keen to stay beyond the summer.
