Chelsea forward Tammy Abraham has been linked with several Premier League clubs over the summer and recently, Serie A side Atalanta have also held talks to sign him. Now if Calciomercato is to be believed then Roma boss Jose Mourinho has also registered an interest in him.
Roma are going to lose Edin Dzeko to Inter Milan and with just a few weeks left before the transfer window shuts down, Mourinho seems to be planning a move for the Chelsea misfit.
The report suggests: “Mourinho, in fact, did not take Dzeko’s farewell very well and wants a player with personality who can lead his attack.
“More than the Italian market in the last few hours, two foreign championships have been tested. In particular the Premier League where a certain Tammy Abraham plays.
“The Chelsea striker, ousted by Lukaku himself, has been in Atalanta’s sights for days in the event that Zapata leaves. But the salary of over 3.5 million of the 23-year-old slows down the Bergamo players while it would not be a problem for Roma who want to overcome the competition from Atalanta and Arsenal.”
Will Tammy Abraham join AS Roma?
Premier League sides like West Ham United and Arsenal hold a long-standing interest in signing the English forward but with a manager like Jose Mourinho interested him, things could get really complicated for the two London suitors.
Tammy Abraham is just 23 so he would love to play under a manager like Mourinho and with Dzeko leaving, he will get ample amount of gametime next season. But there’s no way Roma will be able to pay £40 million for Tammy Abraham.
The report also says that Roma are looking for a long deal with an obligation to buy but we are not sure if Chelsea will be ready for such an arrangement, especially if either Arsenal or West Ham United are ready to pay the money upfront.
Both the English sides are more than capable of paying the quoted price so they still hold an upper hand in this transfer race.
But if Chelsea are ready to accept a loan offer then there’s a big chance Tammy Abraham will snub all the clubs and join Jose Mourinho at Roma.
